As promised the rest of the base maps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have arrived with only the minor cost of the game's soul as they've added microtransactions. That aside, we've finally been given the rest of the maps which made this a hard impressions to name so these are new maps in a sense. With that we've been given the remaining roster including Winter Crash; Bloc, Countdown, Pipeline, Showdown, Strike and Wet Work. Each has been given a proper touch-up and they all look absolutely beautiful. I was particularly impressed with the environments in Pipeline, Winter Crash and Bloc. Each of these maps look glorious now whether you experience the rustic look of Pipeline, the festive fun of Winter Crash or the peaceful snow between sniper shots on Bloc. Winter Crash is also just amazing in general featuring lovely festive lights, presents under the trees and some confetti filled deaths. This is definitely the stand out of the pack for sure and it's going to be great fun, hopefully it stays after the holiday season is over.
Countdown has received much better particle quality in regards to the smoke and the environment better captures that out in the middle of nowhere base feeling. Showdown somewhat looks the same honestly aside from better rock details, but the lighting there is much more realistic. I found Strike to also feel about the same even with the improved graphics and it didn't exactly bring a wow factor. Wet Work looked great with some soft rain and some added effects to the various containers with flapping covers that looked smooth. There were also two new modes with Hardpoint that was alright to play though nothing different from its other versions and Gun Game. I didn't at all enjoy Gun Game here as the weapons don't follow a rhythm and despite the large maps, the spawning was atrocious. That aside it's great to get the rest of the maps here, hopefully at some point we get the three DLC ones as well though the real hope is that these microtransactions doesn't grow to affect the game's focus on recapturing the original game.
