The world size and other details for the Nintendo Switch have been announced for the release of Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition. The version of the game releases on May 11, 2017 as a global release for the platform. It will support console and mobile options hitting a 60fps target while allowing you to take the console version on the go. The developers, 4J Studios also mentioned that the game was easy to port to the console and simple to work with. The game will also feature a medium sized world in that it will fall between Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Minecraft WiiU and the current generation version of Xbox One and Playstation 4. This means that the world size will be around 3072 x 3072 while the last generation worlds are at 864 x 864 with the current other platforms hitting 5120 x 5120.
This will make the Minecraft Switch have a world about 13x the size of the WiiU which is impressive, but not at the level of the other consoles. When it launches, the game will be on par with the January 2017 update and then will catch up later to the other versions with the mode of Glide being absent at launch. 4J Studios has also mentioned that they are working on making WiiU maps portable to the Nintendo Switch like what has been done with the other versions.
