Spellforce 3 was one of the Nordic games I got to check out during my time at E3 2016 and it looked impressive from a graphical standpoint. There really wasn't any focus on story or actual gameplay during the demo though I did get a good look at some of the town building aspects with bits of player movement. Spellforce 3 is a fantasy RTS with some RPG elements mixed in with a release window of early 2017 though a beta might come out before, the developer wasn't quite sure at this point. It's built for those that like micromanagement style games and while the developer didn't like me mention it looks very much like an Age of Empires title. The campaign is apparently going to play for around 30 hours and it'll also come with multiplayer PVP with a target of six players battling at once.
With micromanaging you'll be telling your settlers what to do whether that's farming, cutting trees and mining out local resources. There's also going to be fishing and water aspects present though I didn't get to any of that in action. I did however really like the look of people working away on the forests and buildings seeing the nature get destroyed in the process. The building was also neat as there was great graphical detail within the buildings and the game in general looked fantastic. I had even requested the developer to just watch them for a bit as the combat he was showing wasn't too interesting for me. I hope combat is a bit more exciting for the full release and I'm sure it was just because of a demo display to show RPG elements with the heroes. They're also hoping to add mod support for the title and at this point it looks like Spellforce 3 could be quite impressive when it releases in early 2017.
