Microsoft Studios Global Publishing Rebrand

Update 2
Apparently the change is not a rebrand, but instead Global Publishing is an internal division with everything still being the same. It's also mentioned that they did not intend to roll that out. I'll update if anything else is mentioned about this.

It would seem that Microsoft Studios is getting a small rebrand as the social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter) have updated their profile pictures and logos with a new design. Instead of just being "Microsoft Studios", it now has "Global Publishing" attached below that. It's not quite apparent if it's a subtitle or just their new motto, but an interesting development. There's also a funky looking circle of circles beside it, somewhat odd looking quite honestly.

With E3 2017 fast approaching, this could be a sign of something that might be changing behind the scenes. Perhaps it's nothing, but a change so close to the big gaming event usually means something important. The social media pages haven't given any details on what exactly it means, but I'll speculate below on what this could be. With that, I've also reached out to my local Xbox rep for comment on the change and will update if I hear anything interesting about it.

Microsoft Studios Global Publishing Logo Rebrand

Microsoft Studios has largely been the exact same over the years being a known label before exclusives or published titles. It's a bit odd to honestly see this get tweaked and with ID@Xbox handling Indies on Xbox One successfully I can't see this replacing that. It might however be a push towards getting some of the larger studios and developers to work on the growing Xbox One and Windows 10 platforms. Perhaps it's also a turn towards working with some medium sized studios and growing them under the new brand.

With the clear "Global Publishing" it's certainly not limited to just the United States like many Microsoft projects are and points to working on a world scale to possibly attract some attention there. This would be great as Xbox could use some support from other areas as some studios don't have the resources or find the console foreign. Many gamers have complained about not seeing certain games on the platform and the first/third party support at the current time which could be something Microsoft is working on here. I'm not sure what exactly is going on here, could just be a new slogan though if anything big does come of it we'll probably find out at E3 2017.

Update
The Microsoft Studios site has now been updated with changes to make it the "Microsoft Studios Global Publishing" site.
