World of Tennis: Roaring '20s Review

The Game

World of Tennis: Roaring '20s is rather interesting emulation of the sport as this is very much a time piece. It aims to present a simpler time in the sport in terms of atmosphere and music with that being delivered well. It's also a fairly fun game to play with simplistic controls, yet with the option of complexity in how they can be mastered. You just tap around to move and then swipe with an aim to knock the ball across the court. It's very multiplayer focused in terms of how the matches are setup and that worked here.

What I didn't like was how restrictive the title was, it's quite expensive if you want to truly experience the game as you only get a few matches per day. Not only is it expensive to straight up buy unlimited plays, it offers subscription options for months at a time essentially making the full unlock the only logical purchase. I was not a fan of these choices. That aside, the presentation is great and I loved the visuals. They're clean, showcase the time well and have levels of customization. You can adjust your player's looks, upgrade skills and unlock things to use. There are training options and some deep levels of tweaking for the way you play the Tennis here.

The World of Tennis: Roaring '20s is an enjoyable Tennis experience time piece that's held back by restrictive and costly settings to properly play it. I was not a fan of how the cost tiers were setup, it's a fun game yet not quite valued at their noted costs for things. This is a simple way to play Tennis on a mobile device and I felt they got a lot of gameplay aspects right. It's easy to get into and there's depth in getting better at it. They have a pile of ways to customize your character and the AI puts up a good competition. There are many environments, it feels authentic to the time and it's great fun when you get into the rhythm.
