Warhammer Vermintide 2 Preview

Warhammer Vermintide 2 is the second entry in this intense and excellent cooperative survival series. Following the events of the first game the team continues their adventure with new threats and adventures to journey through. The series is very much like Left 4 Dead, but in the Warhammer fantasy setting and with more of a melee focus for combat. Warhammer Vermintide 2 will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC with enhancements on Xbox One X.

For this particular preview I was able to check out the first PC look at the game. I had a wonderful time though only played a bit as I like to keep these types of games a surprise, I actually enjoy the story in this one. What I jumped into was a larger and more beautiful entry. The level I played was one through a gorgeous looking forest that had almost swamp-like elements to it. It was filled with ever more disgusting rats, undead type monsters and new improved stronger enemies. The core elements returned, but everything was clearly expanded upon.

The banter seems to have been greatly expanded upon and it was fun to jump in with the assassin once more. Each of the characters seem more developed with lots of detail. The visuals were quite stunning here from the little puddles to the dense forests above. You also can't forget the grimy bits when slicing through rats or other enemies. They really did add some nice little details with the guts and I was impressed with the visceral level of the content. This is followed up with a touch of new magic being included and that was crazy. A fun surprise for when you play it. The areas also felt more open yet still linear enough that one wouldn't get lost along the way. We collected items, gathered supplies and sliced through hordes as a team.

It was great, just as fun as I remember it was and even better now. The visuals were great in the first one, but they really stepped it up here with the 4k settings. Vermintide 2 will definitely shine on Xbox One X based on what I saw here with the high resolution and comparing it to their effort with the first game's enhancement. I was happy with what I played, they have nailed the Left 4 Dead formula while expanding upon it. It seems to have all the charm of the original in new settings with more intense enemies and piles of creatures to dice through. Let nothing get in your way!
