Pure Pool Review

"That Slow Motion Chalk"

Campaign

I've been waiting a long time for Pure Pool to hit the Xbox One from it's initial suggested release and I'm quite glad that it's finally available. When I was younger I often played pool and even now that I'm older it definitely has it's place when you go out for social gatherings. Fair to say I've spent many hours playing pool so I'm going to compare that with what Pure offers. The table itself and the small environment around it look beatiful, the graphics are very impressive. Nice to have enough elbow room 360 degrees around the table for once as well! The balls and their physics work to be about exactly how I would guess the ball would move upon hitting it on a real table as authenticity seems to be the goal here. There are many modes for you to pick from and even some smaller mini games to sharpen those skills while earning accolades that pop up to show some progress. Additionally you can choose to do a tournament mode from which I played a bit with some star goals in order to progress. This was alright for some time though I immediately went back to quick play matches. Just a far more casual and easy going area to play the game online or offline. Not to say it can't be gripping at times, but it does feel like a very casual and relaxing play which many people need.

Gameplay

There are some really interesting tools available for you in order to hit that perfect combination. From throwing some spin to it or other minor commands you can hit those balls anywhere you desire. The aiming system is also quite well done and allows for some further precision in deciding where everything should end up. The balls and table shine nicely and allow for some customization to make it much more unique to the player. I'd have to say if you love the physics game in pool it all reacts most elegantly.

The Conclusion

If you like pool or even want a casual game to play individually or with some friends I can't suggest Pure Pool enough. With relaxing music and solid gameplay it's a casual game I like to load up. Playing is simple with some advanced techniques that everyone can get into. Graphic and environment wise it emulates the perfect space to play a game of pool within. Finally for the price I'm sure it'll be much better than how much my group usually spends at the bar on a regular night between us.
