Jazzpunk Review

"The Most Crazy and Innovative Game I've Ever Played "

Campaign

You are agent Polybank, and you have been tasked with a mission of the upmost importance. Being set in a an alternate Cold War world reality that bridges the world of cyberpunk with an outstanding string of comedic events. Filled to the brim with bright lights, crazy theatrics and a world that has almost too many minor or completely side things for you to do. I will note that it may be short in terms of a couple hours, but I don't think I have ever been this connected to a story without looking away or checking the time. This isn't to say that time couldn't be extended by digging even deeper into the many side events that can be taken part in or the little side jokes to indulge yourself in discovering. I thought I would just sit down for a bit to get some of it done, instead I just ran through it in entirety and was blown away by its antics and really interesting story. Maybe it was this crazy world or the fun of just having a completely out there spy game, but it was just great. From general espionage to being undercover or evening directly making a getaway, Jazzpunk seemed to have it all. The main story itself is split across multiple levels which all bring together a tale with conspiracies within itself, it really isn't something for you think of. Instead of trying to solve every happening you should just be sitting there for the ride and taking some time to go off and see what other little adventures are available. From pigeon collection, to robot prostitution or even scanning a beach with a metal detector. In terms of being essential to spying it really isn't, yet it was hilarious and attracted my time. I mean, at some point I had helped a frog cross the street and then was collecting Wifi information from the air. It is small events like this that made every moment feel special even if it didn't have anything to do with the main task at hand, which was actually a really compelling story that was mixed with undercover work and some crazy pills. I honestly don't really even know what happened at times, one second I would be running about in a crowded street whereas the next I would be in this crazed number world. Jazzpunk is something you should really check out for creativity and humor of which no regular title would be willing to do.

Gameplay

The style of Jazzpunk looks great and really has no flaws. The gameplay has a crazy mix of differing areas that seem to make mockery of many titles that you should be well aware of. The narrative put you into the action and every minor character in the environment had something to say. There was definitely a lot of work put into making the environment as interactive as possible to make the experience that much more special.

The Conclusion

Jazzpunk has a very styled charm with a great mix of humor. It isn't something you will be able to experience anywhere else and the crazy colored world only reflects that notion. Every level is packed with side missions of tiny things you can do while on main quest. Though short, its style and gripping gameplay make you begging for additional content. Also as a side note the last level is a very nice touch in terms of credit use, kept laughing until the last moment.
