LEGO DC Super-Villains Aquaman Movie Level Pack 1 Review

"Water Battle"

Campaign

The LEGO DC Super-Villains Aquaman Movie Level Pack 1 is a short ten minute level where you just engage in a boss fight. It's a rather minimal effort and rather disappointing quite honestly. For those expecting something exciting or different in the game you're in a small ring and just fight a boss battle. You get to play as Aquaman, swim around for two seconds and hit the enemy character. This is based on the upcoming film in whatever DC's cinematic universe is called these days. It's rather boring and by the end I was just thinking, that's it?

There's a neat environment as you're under the sea, but it's not a complex setup. You literally fight in a circle and the move to another circle. They do have a neat switch secret to a throne room area, but you're likely to miss it. They do mix up the action slightly as they have a short fly around on rails sequence, but that doesn't last long. It really lacked the heart of the regular series and was just empty. A bonus aspect is that it does contain a few characters to play as that are from the film, though they're all very similar carrying tridents.

The Conclusion

The LEGO DC Super-Villains Aquaman Movie Level Pack 1 is a truly disappointing start to the season pass with a short boss fight. The level has no content to it and you just fight in a small circle. There are studs to collect of course as you smash objects, but narrative wise there's basically none. You get a short comic strip and then thrown into a pointless boss battle based on the movie.

It might make more sense with the context of the film, but by itself it really doesn't present anything interesting. It also doesn't make the character anymore dynamic as we have Aquaman in the game, with this being just a slightly more badass reskin. The other characters included add a slight value to the package, but they're essentially the same character with just a different look to them.
