LEGO Dimensions Back to the Future Level Pack Review

"Marty, We need to Go Back!"

LEGO Components

The Back to the Future set was one of my most anticipated aspects about LEGO Dimensions since I missed out on the Delorean specialty LEGO set and I'm a huge fan of the series. I was however extremely disappointed in the offerings this pack presented as it went through small portions of the original movie. First up though is the discussion on the minifigures offered within this pack. First up we have the one and only Marty McFly which sports a guitar for some heavy beats. This is focused on too often with the short level and also not something I would indefinitely pair him up with. The hoverboard is sick, that's all I can really say since it's amazing. It works wonders within the game and is even great to look at, already take it off to set McFly on it since it's awesome. Finally we have a mini version of the mighty Delorean which hits 88mph in no time and actually looks just as neat outside the game.

Gameplay

While the pieces for this level pack were generally alright I felt that the gameplay section was extremely weak. Excluding making the LEGO pieces during play the entire level took me just over twenty minutes to complete which was weak. While it was extremely authentic covering the first movie with that LEGO charm I can't help but feel it was overly rushed. The areas you visit are great and from the movie, though they are tiny without anything going on in them. I was ultimately let down by the lack of creative environments and that there just wasn't care put in. I say that in the sense that maybe they wanted to do a full experience, but could only cover bits of the actual movie.

LEGO Dimensions Back to the Future Level Pack

The Conclusion

You could go Back to the Future though ultimately this was a hugely disappointing level pack. While it was authentic to capture the original movie, it only touches on very small areas. I enjoyed the extra hub area at the end, but felt like I was robbed on quality story level. It was completely disappointing and crushed my dreams of having a great one-off in Back to the Future. I can only assume that the later games will be adapted and I hope it performs better than this almost waste of time quality experience. Which again sucks, I love the Back to the Future franchise and the characters are classic.
