The Great Philadelphia Comic Con 2017 was held in Oaks, PA with easy access for Eastern Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Delaware. Unlike smaller local conventions that can be completed in a few hours, or super conventions where seeing everything is an insurmountable task, the Philly Comic Con was big enough to support a weekend of attendance while allowing time to become immersed in comic fandom. Among the spotlights of the weekend were stars from favorite Sci-Fi and super hero movies/TV series, such as Alan Tudyk from the beloved Firefly series.
There were also featured artists, such as Bob Camp of Ren and Stimpy fame, with original art and prints available to buy and have personalized by the artist. Other special guests were professional wrestlers and cosplayers, such as Knightmage. Many of the celebrity guests spoke to the fans on panels throughout the weekend allowing fans to ask them questions after the panel interview. When not in a panel, most were available for autographs and photo ops throughout the weekend. Aside from the featured artists, there were plenty of artists displaying their talents for the attendees in every medium and style imaginable. A tattoo booth was also on-site, if your taste in art is on the more permanent side. New comic series were available to experience with the

Some vendors used their fandom to promote different charities for helping children, like the pirate ship that was the centerpiece in the second area of the Con floor. Many vendors had one-of-a-kind signed prints and photos for super fans. While others had hard-to-find collectible toys and videos that would be difficult to find anywhere else. Lastly, were the vendors catering to the cosplayers. There were stands offering mass produced and custom props for cosplay, as well as others having full costumes available for purchase at the show.
There were cosplayers that came to the show as a group, others as a family, and some complete strangers that met as fans of the same character/series. The promoters did a wonderful job supporting the cosplay community at the show. One instance was when they requested all DC cosplayer to come to a certain area for a group photo, then they were photographed in smaller groups according to their place in the DC universe. This gesture of inclusion to the cosplaying attendees showed an appreciation to the fans that made the event special. The Great Philadelphia Comic Con 2017 was an excellent experience for bringing fans and creators together.
