The New York Toy Fair 2017 continues to bring great LEGO as we look at the upcoming Star Wars collection which spans multiple eras of the series and provides a wide range of sets. Some seem to be improvements on past creations whereas others are entirely new. Let's dig into the best of LEGO Star Wars at the 2017 Toy Fair!
Set 75168 Yoda's Jedi Starfighter 3/1/17 ($24.99 USD)
A slightly simpler set, Yoda's Jedi Starfighter comes with the Minifig for Yoda and R2D2. The ship is similar to a Tie Interceptor with just a green painting over it.
Set 75169 Duel on Naboo 3/1/17 ($24.99 USD)
This set has definitely been done a number of times before capturing the iconic moment from Episode 1 where Qui-Gon and Obi Wan take on Death Maul on Naboo. It's particularly based on the final battle where Obi Wan is locked behind a shield door and must wait until it releases. The Minifigs are basically the exact same here though Darth Maul does have some minor better details.
Set 75178 Jakku Quad Jumper 6/1/17 ($49.99 USD)
I've very impressed with this one, apparently set on Jakku it's a Quad Jumper ship that looks really cool and features a number of Minifigs. Included in the set is Rey; Finn, First Order Trooper and a Henchman (can't read the name). Not only is the design of the ship great, but it also fires blaster shots as well!
Set 75171 Battle on Scarif 3/1/17 ($49.99 USD)
I'm not particularly impressed by this one as it only gives a slice of Scarif and the price is rather high with what's available. It does look alright bringing a scene from Rogue One to LEGO with main characters Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor and two Scarif Stormtroopers. If you're a fan of the movie then this might be a fair choice though I'm personally not seeing the value.
Set 75172 Y-Wing Starfighter 3/1/17 ($59.99 USD)
I really love this one as it's a take on the classic LEGO Star Wars sets with an update to make the Y-Wing more modern. It not only comes with a full and awesome Y-Wing starfighter; but you also get a Stormtrooper, a pilot, dark R2 unit and two great side characters that I don't have names for at this moment. It's really a well done mix of Minifigs and this set is very impressive.
Set 75180 Rathtar Escape 6/1/17 ($79.99 USD)
The Rathtar scene in Episode VII was fantastic, so fun and this tight set really brings that moment alive in LEGO. I also really loved the shots our attendee took so I included both as they're amazing. Included in the set are two deadly Rathtars; Han Solo, Chewbacca and two smuggler groups that Han has stolen from. It's full of fun as well featuring some crazy Minifig faces and is just a well put together set.
Set 75183 Darth Vader's Transformation 6/1/17 ($24.99 USD)
I'm fairly sure this has been done before, but it looks cool so we're rolling with it. Taken from the ending of Episode III, it features the Sith Lord and the basically built robotic Darth Vader. It features some lightsabers; the medic droid, a scarred Anakin with the option for full suiting up and a cackling evil Lord Sidious.
Set 75182 Republic Fighter Tank 6/1/17 ($24.99 USD)
Another I believe it to be Episode III, could be II set features a common Republic tank; rare to see Jedi Knight Aayla Secura, a Clone Trooper and two standard Battle Droids. I also quite like this set as it's another smaller in scope one that aims to bring decent value and is a nice army building set as well.
Set 75185 Tracker 1 6/1/17 ($69.99 USD)
I'm honestly not sure where this is from, not going to take guesses either on it though interesting. The ship is awesome featuring a slick and deadly design akin to Empire type fighters. Included Minifig wise is Lord Sidious; Rowan, a crazy duel lightsaber robot and a seeker droid. This set is actually very unique in design and well put together in what I feel is a great set.
Set 75186 The Arrowhead 6/1/17 ($89.99 USD)
This set like the one before it are based on the Freemaker Adventures series which I had to look up while writing since I was curious. Included here are the Minifigs; Quarrie, R0-GR, Kordi Freemaker, Zander Freemaker and a Stormtrooper. The set also has this cool looking Arrowhead ship which reminds me of what they used to hit a Star Destroyer in Rogue One. The ship also can blast out shots and in general looks like a blast to play with.
