Neverwinter Playstation 4 E3 2016 Preview

I've actually quite enjoyed playing Neverwinter with some friends since launch on Xbox One getting a level 60 and a level 30 character respectively. That means I have put a fair amount of time into the title and now all the awesome free to play action is headed to Playstation 4.

This is great as they'll also get to experience the magical world and the absolutely free game, there are microtransactions for special decorative items yet nothing is locked behind a pay gate. The game is also completely free on Playstation meaning you don't even need Playstation Plus to play whereas on Xbox you need a Gold subscription.

It will also come with a fresh list of trophies for the collectors out there including a magical Platinum and all the content thus far bringing it to parity with Xbox. The Playstation version will also come with basic exclusives such as special items, yet nothing too game changing for either of the platforms the game is currently on.

Playstation players can expect to be playing during Summer 2016 with a firm release date coming soon as I wasn't able to get a solid date in my discussion. It'll be right in time for the Storm King's Thunder with all console platforms also getting the expansion as well at the same time. Neverwinter Xbox One blew away their expectations and the developers are hoping for a similar welcoming on Playstation which I'm sure they'll get as the game is great.

We also briefly discussed console upgrades as both platforms are getting new iterations soon and those would also be looked at getting support. That would also carry with Nintendo NX if they can up a decent online platform and a console powerful enough to run the game without cutting the game back. That being said this is an Preview and it runs basically the same as on Xbox. I got a over powered sorcerer to run around with and I decimated the local lizard population which I suppose was sad for their species.

The world was quite empty as it's just running locally though at launch it'll be packed with players. It functions well with the Playstation controller as well which was nice and again sports the best large scale keyboard to console controls I've seen thus far. It looks fine and runs good though we'll have to see how the servers handle the mass mob of players that are sure to jump on. With that I'll be most likely reviewing the game for the platform and have been told I might get some early access so look forward to content on that in the future.
