Borderlands 3 Announced at Pax East 2016

While not entirely an official announcement with a trailer or anything, but the team representing Gearbox at Pax East 2016 have officially announced Borderlands 3 is in active development. Nothing else is known, but I'm going to guess that there will definitely be an official trailer at E3 2016. They also joked about the game's title being "Borderlands 4: The Search for Borderlands 3" which is a nice little reference. The team also mentioned that Scooter may return in the form of a son and nothing else about the game aside from some Battleborn Borderlands easter eggs to find. I'm personally quite excited for Borderlands to return as I can never get enough of that rich universe.
