Tron Run/r takes the design of an endless runner and throws an intense array of neon lights into the mix. Tron is a well known series that had a recent entry a few years back, but the universe is still full of potential. The game is split into three distinct areas, one where you're trying to make the distance, the second is completing time trials and the final being a random endless challenge area. The first section is best to start with as it provides a gentler integration into the game introducing the various elements of gameplay into a couple levels. It's actually quite crazy to see how quick everything gets thrown into the mix and the amount of movements possible in this endless runner. The programs (characters) can be customized in a variety of colors and costumes for a more personalized experience. These programs are then thrown into the levels in an attempt to escape the security measures which makes some sense. There's a fair selection of levels present in both the distance and time based trials with the endless mode being a true test of running skill. I suggest playing a fair bit of the other modes before attempting endless as it just throws everything it has at players constantly. The provides a decent amount of gameplay with the endless mode being a nice test of what the other modes offer at random.
Tron works incredibly well as an endless runner blending an array of neon colors with sleek gameplay. Everything looks fantastic and the controls are great with well done response times. It's quite something seeing the program hop, skip and fly around at a moment's notice. The game does a great job of making each area blend well together without any delay and a constant challenge. Players will go from simple attacks against the security to wall climbing, flying through the air or taking a faster ride on the classic bikes. It does all this while keeping the pace going fast and smooth through the levels with no delay in transitions. Players can also take damage with a certain amount of hits ending their run and making them restart.
You rarely see endless runner games end up on consoles and generally the mobile games of this type don't interest me. Tron Run/r does a perfect job of taking this game style and putting it onto this platform. The gameplay is sleek, great looking and gives great response with movement. It takes quick reflexes to maneuver through the simulation and there's a crazy amount of things present. Players will be required to hop over things, through things, fly and more while shooting at enemy invaders. It sounds overwhelming, but is presented in the right way and it carries the Tron name perfectly. If you're looking for a great endless runner then the game will give you just that, but with a bit of Tron style and flair to it.
