Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Impressions

I was first able to check out Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 during E3 2015 which was actually quite awhile ago at this point and it's nice to see how the game has progressed since then. Back at that point we were given a walkthrough demo and then thrown into a separate scenario to give it a whirl for ourselves. In this beta we're given basic instructions on how the shelter camp works which is a base of operations and then you're sent out to do two missions which you can choose between. One has you going on a simple mission to assassinate a target whereas the other tasks you with adjusting satellites. They're not exactly fancy missions though they do give a taste of the action or generally what can be done in the game. This will probably be a bit different shooter wise as it aims to present a realistic take on the action and that was apparent when shooting targets. It's worth the effort to take some extra time to make sure everything lines up as the whole mission could be blown otherwise.

In my first mission I climbed to the top of the adjacent building to where my assassination target was with it honestly taking me a couple tries. I had some issues where I was surprised by enemies and mostly just having troubles climbing the building. This was however easier as I learned the game has a great climbing system where you can easily scale buildings and this is all done in a lovely first person view. Once at the roof of the building I scanned the terrain occasionally taking out enemies while searching for a target that was on a high floor of the opposite building to my surprise. I had initially assumed he would be branched out on the ground with his guards, but that was not the case. Eventually I was able to shoot him through a window and then fall off the building a couple times trying to scale down it though that was mostly on me since I discovered a zipline escape after a few deaths.

From what I played in this beta demo type experience it's shaping up to be a solid shooter with great levels of detail. The world looks fantastic and I loved the detailed first person aspects of doing any activities. I found the enemies were somewhat off at times where a single shot would have them instantly shoot back at your location whereas other times where I shot multiple times missing them they couldn't tell where I was. The game also carries an open world feel which is something many titles are exploring currently and since this was a small slice of the action I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I look forward to checking out the full game this does seem like a solid shooter and it'll be interesting to see how the full game is.
