The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Xbox One X Enhanced Preview

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is probably the best game of the generation and perhaps the greatest RPG ever. The world is expansive, it's filled to the brim with depth and it has just been updated to the best version on console. With this update we get a selection of modes that offer players the perfect choice for how to play it.

The first option is Performance Mode and the second is Resolution Mode. The Performance mode brings players a 60fps offering with dynamic delivery between 1080p-4k resolution. It's buttery smooth and the fluidity is a beautiful way to enjoy the experience.

The second mode provides a 4k resolution locked at 30fps. The two modes can be switched on the fly to instantly see the difference. That's not where things stop however as some additional improvements have been made for both modes.

The best change there is the addition of HDR support which is glorious for those sunny days and ember fueled nights by the fire or torches. The other tweaks include enhanced shadows, ambient occlusion and texture filtering. This is all topped off with higher resolution textures to match that 4k resolution option.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Xbox One X update is truly remarkable, the quality of the updates make one of the best games ever that much more beautiful. The landscapes are gorgoeus and you can experience it however you'd like.

While I love the 4k resolution, I was enchanted by the smooth 60fps as you can still get the charming higher resolution when you're taking in the scenery as opposed to combat where you're not particularly paying attention to that aspect.

It's fantastic that they offer multiple choices and it all ran fine for the most part as I adventured across a number of iconic locations. I visited snowy cliffs, warm taverns and walked steadily along the streets of large cities with good old Roach.

It was a simple time, I didn't battle too many enemies as I really just wanted to take a scenic trip through the world I've worked to conquer. Another reason is that the game is easy to get sucked into for so many hours of easy time spent. This game is amazing, if you haven't yet tried it out the Xbox One X enhancement is the best way to enjoy the title on console.

If you're wanting to revisit the game to continue Witching, there's never been a better excuse as the world is just perfect. The depth in the world, the far distance and just the quality of it all is presented so amazingly well here.

The Witcher 3 is a stunning game and it was a lovely time to take a trip through something that was familiar, but presented so differently. You can enjoy it anyway you'd like from the Performance mode to the Resolution mode and both come with so many improvements. Geralt's conclusion is well worth the adventure and it's nice to get an even better tuned world to do it in.
