Astro A10 Playstation 4 Review

The Astro A10 Playstation 4 is another perfect, cost efficient way to get into the Astro family. It's a solid and quality headset that's built to last. It's able to take intense bending, drops and even throws as I saw this in action while at E3 2017. This is the second model of the A10 line I've received to review so this will be a modified review of my original take on the slightly different Xbox One Edition. The biggest thing to note is that this doesn't include the MixAmp. There's a good amount of comfort that comes with this durability and that was appreciated. It's comfortable to put on and have on your head for extended periods of time. This support is provided by tough, yet soft while being worn muffs around the ear and a small foam at the top of head band. The cushions work well for completely covering the ears while also cancelling out most noise.

This is great for those that want to get lost in the gaming world or in music and not get interrupted easily. There are easy options for adjusting the head space as well with the rubber option allowing easy stretching from side to side and sliders for more height. The mic piece is long, incredibly bendable and thick. I highly doubt one could ever bend this out of shape or even damage it. It's easy to flick this up and it'll be out of the way. To the side of that it's sensitive enough to pick up your voice perfectly while also ignoring background noise that might be present. The color scheme is simple taking the Playstation blue color and matching that with a light gray color.

Hardware Continued
I find this headset to be great as it's not just something purely for the Playstation 4. It obviously has that in mind with the color scheme, but you can easily plug it into any regular audio jack and use it. That means it's easily compatible with your PC, mobile device, Xbox One or even any Playstation 4 setup. I was however disappointed that it doesn't come with the MixAmp. With that extra plug-in you're able to adjust various sounds in regards to how it's integrated into your gameplay. With that you're able to adjust game/party audio and general volume. Not a huge loss, but definitely something noticeably absent.

The cords that come with the headset are lengthy, high in quality and built to last. There are great options whether you want to plug it into the standard controller or into your other devices. The headset delivers drivers of 40mm and a frequency response of 20Hz - 20kHz. The distortion is < 3% at 1 kHz. The audio really is crystal clear when projecting with the 6.0mm unidirectional microphone and the audio you receive is top notch. Music sounds fantastic providing atmospheric binaural sound and that is also present in games to hear all around you.

The Conclusion

I've been thoroughly impressed with the Astro A10 Playstation 4 as it offers the perfect headset for those that want quality and need to the best, which is Astro. I really do find their line of headsets to be at the top of quality and this is one excellent entry level headset. The audio is fantastic whether you're listening to the game, music and the mic matches that when you're yelling at friends to help out or to just crack jokes over an extended gaming night. These are really durable headsets that don't sacrifice comfort in the slightest. It may not be the fanciest, but I found it to have all the essential features that one could really want in a more professional headset model.
