The Witcher 3 was probably the best game I played in 2015 and one of my top favorite titles of all time. After taking a rest for the game since completion as it was best for my health I'm more than excited to jump back into the game. Hearts of Stone is the first of two expansions for The Witcher 3 and this pack extends the story by using the existing landscape whereas the next one will be located in a new land. This pack is broken down into three main acts which focus around a wedding, a heist and a poltergeist. I don't want to dive too far into the narrative though I will aim to touch upon some aspects of this DLC pack. There was also a new romance option added which ties into the wedding and this was another beautifully well designed sequences. It was neat to start off with a more comical aspect which was the first aspect and was a relaxing yet highly entertaining portion. From there the action heated up during a heist which had all the trademark aspects from getting a crew to casing and then hitting the joint with your merry squad. I loved how this act focused on action without the need to push players far off before getting into it. Finally the poltergeist cleaning act was just so beautifully done as you explore this haunted widow's domain. Recreations of story pieces and a mixing of realities was perfectly pulled off. The scenes were just so lovely with a unique art style that blended perfectly with the sorrow that filled the air. All the acts came together perfectly while wrapping up another perfectly well performed story expansion with just so much additional content.
Like the main portion of the game Hearts of Stone was perfect, it was an amazing tour back into the Witcher 3 which still somehow makes every space feel completely fresh. Furthermore I felt like this DLC was longer and better developed than some of the full games I've played this year which is rather impressive. I love how they're really pushing the boundaries to create a well crafted narrative path alongside solid action across the entire three act expansion. If you've played The Witcher 3 then you should definitely pick up this pack and even more if you haven't played the game at this point you have to check it out.
