Fallout 4 Shows Mods Work on Consoles

One of the most well known and regarded aspects of gaming is the ability to mod the content. This has been something that gamers have long been doing whether that's to increase the content of a game, completely revamp it or even to cheat.

It's been a big part of gaming for quite awhile with many modders even getting jobs as developers for the titles they work as their work is usually top notch as they have a passion for it. This has been great for PC players though console gamers have left out of this mix (I know you could do mod discs and such, though it wasn't legal and mostly just for cheating).

This has recently changed as Xbox has worked with Bethesda to make mods on consoles a reality, not to say Playstation isn't getting them as it is. It's just that Xbox has a deal for Fallout 4 and therefore they're leading the charge on this one.

Fallout 4 Shows Mods Work on Consoles

I've always wanted to see mods come to consoles in way that was streamlined for players to enjoy and it seems that it's finally happened. It also works incredibly well with only some server issues the first day, but that was due to the overwhelming demand for the mods. Over the past week I've discussed it with a pile of Xbox players and like myself they're loving mods in Fallout 4.

I hear great stories of players downloading everything they can get their hands on and have even gotten some Snapchats of a friend with some of what mods he currently has. This is a great response from fans and I'm sure companies out there are noticing as Bethesda was definitely overwhelmed during the first day as it was over 50 times the reception of PC players (will also note that PC players likely use Nexusmods or other sources for more control).

Still, this is amazing and shows that console players are ready to receive mods. Hopefully this continues to get more notice so that other developers would feel comfortably spending the time to add mods for their titles. This could very well be a turning point in seeing actual support for mods on consoles as Minecraft is one of the top games to have had many discussions of this exact thing.

With that I feel that Fallout 4 shows that mods do work on consoles and they work well, I truly hope we get to see more games support this in the future. It's crazy actually to finally experience the full possibilities of enhancing a game while in a streamlined console friendly format that everyone can enjoy.
