Xbox One Backwards Compatibility was Overhyped

Ever since the E3 2015 announcement backwards compatibility for Xbox One bringing all those glorious Xbox 360 titles to the current generation there has been much hype about the launch. It's been heavily discussed between gamers with many apparent leaked lists showing up with great promise though when the time has finally come to release the list it's lackluster for sure. Click the link below if you haven't had time to take a look at the list, it's largely arcade titles which is odd. It's more disappointing than anything considering this was supposed to be a motive for people still on the last generation consoles to move forward which this starter list really doesn't do. While it does note that other large titles will be coming in the future including Call of Duty Black Ops which actually shocks me since I felt Activision would never let that happen. It seems that a focus was made on their promotion deals and then they just stuffed the edges to reach that hundred games number with whatever was sitting around. It's almost thrown together at random considering some games only got one part of their franchise.

While they might have not put certain franchises on the list in order to keep players on the latest titles like with Halo and Call of Duty among others it's still not quite the push I feel any players were looking towards. While I will say there are some gems on the list many of the top requested games are not present in this list. The uservoice was one aspect of the hype as they built up this list and comparing the titles it seems only 3 of the top 20 which is the first page actually made it into this first batch. While it's nice to see the entire Gears of War franchise on there I'm shocked they didn't put any Halo titles or other big AAA Xbox first party games. Not to say there isn't any on the list, I'm just shocked that there isn't more as they should be showing other publishers with example by posting their games on there. Another big title was Alan Wake which is first party, but I'm going to bet on that one appearing with Quantum Break as a pre-order incentive. Again with that train of thought I feel the Crackdown titles will suffer a similar fate of arriving just before Crackdown 3 shows up next year.

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility was Overhyped

While I'm still glad to be putting use to some of my old Xbox 360 games which are mostly digital since it's basically an arcade collection I can't help but feel that this list should have been announced a long time ago. This isn't really a blockbuster list of titles that needed to be held off to days before the new dashboard and holidays so I'm wondering what they were thinking there. It's odd to build excitement for this program for so long and then not just kill it with the roster. This list still has some of my favorites and games I didn't think would be brought in so I'm happy there. I just really hope that they work on adding some more first party games to the list in the near future. I suppose some were left out in order to keep players on the new versions of the franchises though I don't feel it would really affect the player rosters on those titles much. As a final note I'm really disappointed that these games were left out from the leaks; Bioshock series, Shadowrun, Alan Wake, Fable series (only 2 on list), Halo series and the Ghost Recon series as my picks. I am also once again shocked that Call of Duty is going to be brought over in the future as you all should be and guess on November 12 I'll be playing Centipede & Millipede on Xbox One, yay.
