Xbox One's Bundled with Xbox 360-Like Headset

A couple weeks back one of my American friends was setting up a Xbox One for one of his relatives and noticed that the Xbox One console was bundled with a Xbox 360 headset. I found this strange, though we continued on with some question about why that was. Fast forward to the launch of Forza Motorsport 6 and another American friend bought the limited edition console. We were chatting with him while unboxing the console and apparently it came with the Xbox 360 headset as well. This got my group rather curious as to why the consoles weren't being bundled with the sleek new Xbox One headset and instead a Xbox 360 headset that has the old 3.5mm headphone plug. My best guesses were that the console bundles were attempting to save with adding the 1 TB hard drive to them and this was largely correct I believe. So with this information and photos below I contact my local Xbox rep to find out about it.



Here's the response from a Microsoft spokesperson:
"Some Xbox One consoles will come packaged with a chat headset with a standard 3.5mm headphone plug. This is similar to the headset included with Xbox 360 consoles, but not the exact same. Similar to other products sold around the world, products are unique to each market. "

I found this statement rather interesting and coming from Xbox 360 to Xbox One at launch this is exactly a Xbox 360 Headset. Anyone that has used this in the past can see from the images that these are exactly those headsets. They may very well be updated or tweaked to some extent though from a visual perspective that's why they are. Of course also stated is that every bundle will be different as part of my question to them was whether this was just an US thing or bundled everywhere with the new systems. Anyways, thought I would share this and follow up on it since I didn't notice anyone else covering this. I'll also write a bit more in the future as I'm interested to see how the sound quality is compared to the standard Xbox One headset. Finally, I would like to mention that one console bought was from the East Coast of the US and the other the West Coast.
