Dust an Elysian Tail Review

"2D Scroller with Gorgeous Graphics and RPG!"

Campaign

Meet the hero Dust, along with his flying strange companion Fidget. Welcome to a world of beautifully designed graphics that sparkle no matter which of the differing areas you visit. Seriously the artwork has a very intense and beautiful detail to it. Anyways what makes Dust stand apart from many other games is the properties of having it a 2D scroller where you can actually move through it as though it is a RPG open world. It sounds strange, but every world is divided into squares which you can move about finding rooms with chests, enemies or many other interesting things. Dust has come across a mystical sword that flew to him and then you move around hacking/slashing foes trying to gain high level combos. Of course there are varying different moves to be used which can include the usage of Fidget. Dust has an energy bar to gauge how much he can use powers, along with a health bar as Dust not only has an interesting style, yet also has a layer of RPG mechanics. This includes not only eating food, you will also have to check out the map, choose armor along with other items and upgrade Dust. What is really neat to this element is the ability to craft items through blueprints you collect by bringing them to the blacksmith. I will say getting there is slightly annoying with the gazillion explosive enemies, still a very interesting aspect. There are many hours to be spent doing various tasks or quests and Dust will have in awe viewing the environments.

Dust: An Elysian Tail

Gameplay

Dust looks fantastic and plays well, with some intensely beautiful graphics. Quest for hours with the RPG elements trying to build and advance through the differing worlds. There are full discussions with various characters, although I found Fidget at times to be annoying, though that is a personal thought.

Dust: An Elysian Tail

The Conclusion

Dust is a wonderful game. It will give you hours and hours of playtime, while keeping your attention throughout. Loved the usage of RPG mixed with intense side scrolling. Although at times cliff ledges could be annoying when moving, it just takes a sec to step back and jump. Slashing and mixing combos on enemies is fantastic. You will thoroughly enjoy your time with Dust.
